What we do

Concerts

Full programme, printed notes.

Residencies

A week in one building.

Schools

Sectionals, then a shared concert.

Printed notes

A programme a listener can hold. No QR-only fog in a dark hall.

Dry acoustic honesty

We pick works that survive the room you actually have.

Education as rehearsal

Sectionals, then a shared concert — not a clap-along brand visit.

Who this is for

Halls

That still have silence in them.

Schools

That will give us a room and a timetable.

Listeners

Who will sit without a phone light.

About Ensemble VIII

We tour a short book: old works that need air, new works that can survive a dry acoustic. Education work is real rehearsal, not a clap-along.

A standing chamber group for halls that still have silence in them — programmes built, not streamed as wallpaper.

Ensemble VIII is an octet, not a streaming wallpaper service. If the room is a bar with a football screen, we will pass.

Ceiling height and the last train matter more than a moodboard.

What happens after you write

Write [email protected] with the hall, the date and whether there is a piano. Ensemble VIII sends a programme sketch or a pass.

Questions people actually ask

Fee?
A written quote. Travel and a piano tuner are not surprises.
Can we pick the hits?
We build a book. Requests are possible; a jukebox is not.
Recording?
If the hall and the players agree, in writing.
Dinner with the concert?
Only if the acoustic still works after dessert.
How far do you travel?
Ask. The book has a radius.
